Biography

Jose R. Barajas was born and raised in Austin, Texas. He grew up seeing the immigration challenges his father's side of the family faced simply trying to live a life in the United States. He knew from a young adult that his passion was to assist immigrants because he wanted to do everything to help his family. He attended his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin graduating cum laude in 2010. After his undergraduate studies, Mr. Barajas entered law school and obtained his Juris Doctor degree in May 2013 from Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas. He was admitted to the Texas Bar in November 2013.

Mr. Barajas represents foreign nationals from all over the world before the United States Department of Homeland Security (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection), United States Department of Justice (Executive Office for Immigration Review), the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the Administrative Appeals Office. He handles cases involving marriage-based adjustment of status, fiancée visas, naturalization, u-visas, t-visas, waivers of inadmissibility, special immigrant juvenile status, removal defense and both affirmative and defensive asylum cases.

Mr. Barajas has expanded his practice to include family law and criminal law matters in which there is an immigration component, including divorces, suits affecting the parent-child relationship and criminal defense. Mr. Barajas' is dedicated to aggressively defending the criminally accused and his practice includes but is not limited to, DWI, assault, domestic violence, sex crimes, drug possession and theft. He can also assist in post-conviction relief such as probation violations, Drug Court violations and pretrial release, This broad spectrum of expertise allows Mr. Barajas to holistically represent his clients in legal matters.
